A general drawing room cliche is "We don't have a leader." However, a leader is the last thing we need. Leader is someone untouchable, someone above the law, someone unquestionable, someone who only relays orders, and we are just supposed to be silent followers. Questioning the leader would only bring us shame and disgrace. Don't want to bash religion here but that's what we learn for any religion.

Problem is we worship the leader. We worship him to the extent that several of his upcoming generations are guaranteed the throne, no matter how corrupt, immoral and dishonest with country they would be. Bringing him to justice would only make him seem victim in public eye and make him even popular. Leader brings emotions against cold hard vote count. It is not democratic if your vote is tilted by emotions rather than facts.

What we really need is we need disposable, faceless party heads who come and go within a few years. A faceless party head is a forgettable person just like a voter that you and me are. He is not a celebrity. He can be questioned, held in contempt, and jailed of any wrong doing. And it would only heighten the sense of equality among people, which is the perfect condition for democracy to grow.

I know where are you coming but this logic can have many angles too ... leader can lead by his own example too, Jinnah did so? They can show sacrifice by their own example too.

Rest aside thanks God I am not in Pakistan, if I wasn't working in a good capacity govt may have "supported" me by giving a "qarza" of salayi machine I am sure. Pray that your job stays good otherwise you can easily apply for a qarza of few "istaries".
